Another ripper day in paradise

We’ve all had a bit too much sun over the last few days so thought we would hit the beach early.  Set the alarm and left the appartment by 8 to hit the Pass, where we saw the broad head snake yesterday (chances were he would have moved on by now !!).

He had but there were other wild life to both admire and be wary of.  First up a pair of dolphins playing just off the beach who then followed an inflatable rib taking a group of divers out to a nearby dive spot.

The surf was as flat today as the pancakes we would later order for breakfast.  This was disappointing for me (lack of surf ... not breakfast) but ideal for the kids to have a muck around in.

Next thing we knew the lifeguards had their drone up tracking something about 40 meters off shore.  The operator advised me that a small shark (probably a tiger shark) had been spotted near swimmers and their were keeping an eye on it. A couple of snorkelers were encouraged to move closer to shore but otherwise things went on as normal,  except for the drone hovering over head and a bit later the jet ski went out to take up a position to intervene if Jaws got a bit hungry (yes Jock I realise jaws was a white pointer not a tiger !!!).

Quiddy was fascinated and absolutely convinced the shark was going to leap out of he water and take the lifeguard off the jet ski.  But alas we didn’t get the ultimate click bait footage. Instead the kids had a nice little surf in waves you could barely make were there.  Oh to weigh only 40 kegs !!!!

We had a lovely brecky at the Pass Cafe and later plan to see Storm Boy at the theatre, which happens to be situated right inside the Byron brewery.  It would be criminal not to sample a few local brews.

We dropped in yesterday to check it out and met the owner/ manager, Jean Fransouir (sic).  Quite the dude who came to Byron for a day eight years ago and never left.  I am tipping there a few of those stories floating around here !!!!
